Black Mountain Transmitter
Black Mountain Transmitter is the one-man project of J.R. Moore from Northern Ireland. Since 2008 he has been creating instrumental soundscapes influenced by a diet of Horror/Weird fiction and film, VHS era ‘Video Nasty’ soundtracks, The Radiophonic Workshop and the abject electronics of early Industrial music.
His work has been released on his own Lysergic Earwax label and by Auris Apothecary (USA) and Aurora Borealis (UK).
Black Mountain Transmitter has recently soundtracked the writing of Matthew M. Bartlett for the forthcoming “Mr White Noise” LP on Cadabra Records.
“Black Goat of The Woods” was his first full length album, conceived as the soundtrack to a lost, underground horror film and paying tribute to the mythology of H.P. Lovecraft. Originally released as a limited CD-R in 2009, reissued editions on cassette and CD quickly sold out and it is now available in a new pressing on Lysergic Earwax.
Praise For Black Mountain Transmitter:
“Like an old horror film where the special effects are too cheap to give you a real shock, but the ideas are warped enough to make you stay awake afterwards for far longer than you wanted to” – Wire magazine
“The sounds created by Black Mountain Transmitter gives the impression of having been set in motion long ago by some remote force” – Julian Cope
